Medical education does not tend to integrate many opportunities for research. Only two out of six years are truly devoted to basic sciences, with the third being a mix between basic and clinical, and the education provided is often theoretical.
I have been fortunate enough to study at a faculty with a curriculum that integrated training in research methods from the get-go. Thanks to my wonderful advisors and mentors, I was also able to pursue research voluntarily when opportunities came up. These factors combined to grant me the following research experience:
- “A Report on the Difficulties Faced by Female Syrian Migrants In Türkiye in Regards to Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health; compared with difficulties in Sweden”
- Oral Presentation at the “First International Planetary Healh and Family Medicine Congress”, 28 April – 01 May , 2023
- “Event-Related Oscillations and Grey Matter Volume Changes Due to Aging in Health Individuals: The Relationship Between Electrophysiological and Volumetric Measures”
- Oral Presentation at “The role of IMMUnity in tackling PARKinsons’s disease through a translational NETwork (IMMUPARKNET)”, February 12-14, 2023
- Manuscript: “Prevalence and distribution of high-risk Human Papillomavirus in Western Türkiye between 2019 and 2022”
- Publication Pending
- Poster Presentation at “Federation of European Microbiological Societies Congress 2023”, July 09-13, 2023
- Manuscript: “Examining The Prevalence and Distribution of HR-HPV Subtypes in a Three-Year Period of Screening in a Tertiary Healthcare Center in Western Türkiye; compared with national and international trends.”
- Formal training in research and information management
- Formal training in basic biostatistics
- Formal education encompassing data Collection and field Work, Lifestyle and Health Cohort Study
- Formal and informal training in laboratory medicine research
