University Education and Path to MD
I received my Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine on August 15th, 2023.
The graduation ceremony was held at The Asclepion at Pergamum.
The IUE Faculty of Medicine could be described as a “boutique” institution, with classes of 30-60. We, as the class of 2023 will be the first ever graduates.
Medical education in the IUE Faculty of Medicine places great emphasis on personalized medicine, lifestyle medicine, planetary health, and the integration of laboratory and clinical medicine. Students are thus able to attain a holistic vision of “health”, “illness”, “disease”, and “sickness” with respect to all determinants.
Three years of medical education in basic sciences and laboratory medicine are followed by two years of hands on clinical education and a one year medical internship at the IUE Medical Point Hospital. Students are able to work one on one with specialists, and take active roles in the patient care process.
Past Education
I am an alumnus of the American Collegiate Institute, (ACI) class of 2017, a Council of International Schools accredited high school with a language of instruction completely in English. ACI offers a mandatory Prep year, second language instruction, a plethora of elective courses and social activities. ACI also hosts (among others) chapters of the Model United Nations, International Student Theater Association, and Junior Achievement. Of these, I was a part of Junior Achievement.
I received my k12 education in the Izmir SEV school. The k12 counterpart of ACI.
